BJDRE is a peer-reviewed journal, aims to promote evidence-based dentistry and improve oral health through publication of high-quality research and scholarly articles. BJDRE welcomes submissions from clinicians, academicians, researchers and postgraduate students in dentistry and related disciplines.

The Bangladesh Journal of Dental Research & Education (BJDRE) ensures that all submitted manuscripts undergo a structured and rigorous peer review process to maintain high scientific quality, research integrity andethical publication standards. The journal follows internationally accepted publication ethics principles consistent with COPE, DOAJ andICMJE recommendations.
All submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents and remain the intellectual property of the authors. Any information obtained during the peer review process must not be disclosed, discussed publicly, or used for personal advantage prior to publication.
BJDRE follows a double-blind peer review system, where:
• The identities of authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process
• Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise
Manuscript Submission
Authors submit manuscripts through the journal submission system.
Editorial Screening
All submissions are initially evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief and editorial team for:
• Completeness of submission
• Compliance with journal scope and author guidelines
• Plagiarism screening
• Ethical compliance
Manuscripts that do not meet basic journal requirements may be rejected without external review.
Typical timeline: 7-14 days
Reviewer Assignment
Reviewers are selected based on:
• Subject expertise
• Academic and publication record
• Previous review quality and reliability
• Availability to complete review within timeline
Reviewers must declare any conflicts of interest before accepting review invitations.
External Peer Review
• Manuscripts passing editorial screening are sent for external peer review.
• Typical timeline: Up to 30 days
• Standard reviewer completion time: 1–2 weeks after acceptance
• Reviewers are expected to respond to review invitations within 3 days. If no response is received, alternative reviewers may be invited.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:
• Originality and scientific significance
• Soundness of methodology and data analysis
• Scientific accuracy and validity of conclusions
• Ethical compliance and reporting standards
• Clarity, structure and quality of writing
• Relevance to journal scope
Reviewers are encouraged to provide detailed, constructive feedback to improve manuscript quality.
Reviewers submit detailed comments and recommendations. Editorial decisions may include:
• Accept (with or without minor revision)
• Minor or major revision required
• Reject with option to resubmit after major improvement
• Reject or decline submission due to scope mismatch, lack of novelty, or major scientific concerns
The Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the editorial team, makes the final decision based on reviewer recommendations and scientific merit.
Authors are informed of decisions along with reviewer comments for improvement.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers are expected to:
• Provide objective, unbiased and constructive reviews
• Maintain strict confidentiality of manuscript content
• Avoid using unpublished information for personal benefit
• Declare potential conflicts of interest
• Inform the editor if unable to complete the review on time
• Delete or destroy manuscript copies after review completion
If a significant conflict of interest exists, reviewers should decline the review
Editors, reviewers and editorial staff must maintain confidentiality regarding all submitted manuscripts and peer review communications. Reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors.
Conflicts may include financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence judgment.
• Authors: Must disclose conflicts during submission. Disclosures are published in accepted articles.
• Reviewers: Must declare conflicts before review. Major conflicts require declining the review.
• Editors: Must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where conflicts exist. Alternative editors will be assigned if needed.
Research involving human participants or animals must follow accepted ethical standards and obtain appropriate institutional approval. Informed consent must be obtained where applicable.
BJDRE follows COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) ethical peer review and publication guidelines. Any suspected misconduct, including reviewer misconduct, plagiarism, or ethical violations, is investigated according to journal policy.
Published articles may be:
• Corrected (Erratum or Corrigendum)
• Retracted
• Updated
if significant errors, ethical concerns, or new evidence emerge after publication.
The Bangladesh Journal of Dental Research & Education (BJDRE) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics, scientific integrity, and transparency. The journal follows internationally recognized ethical publishing principles and good editorial practices consistent with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
Authors submitting manuscripts to BJDRE must ensure that:
• The submitted work is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere
• All listed authors meet accepted authorship criteria and have approved the final manuscript
• Data, results, and interpretations are presented honestly and without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate manipulation
• Ethical approval has been obtained from an appropriate institutional ethics committee where applicable
• Informed consent has been obtained from participants where required
• All potential conflicts of interest are fully disclosed during submission
BJDRE does not tolerate plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, or other unethical research practices.
All manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts showing unacceptable levels of similarity or evidence of plagiarism will be rejected. Serious cases may be reported to the authors’ institutions if necessary.
All manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening followed by peer review by independent subject experts. The peer review process is confidential, unbiased, and objective.
Editorial decisions are based on:
• Scientific merit
• Originality and novelty
• Methodological quality
• Relevance to the journal scope
For research involving human participants, authors must confirm that:
• Participants received clear information about the study objectives, procedures, risks, and benefits
• Participation was voluntary
• Written informed consent was obtained prior to participation
Authors may be requested to provide a sample participant consent form if required.
Research involving human or animal subjects must comply with accepted ethical standards and must have approval from appropriate institutional review or ethics committees.
To protect patient privacy and confidentiality, authors must follow ICMJE recommendations on privacy and confidentiality.
All personal data and identifiable participant information must be protected. Identifying information should not be published unless essential and written consent has been obtained.
If research or publication misconduct is suspected, BJDRE will investigate according to international ethical publishing standards.
Actions may include:
• Manuscript rejection
• Publication of corrections
• Retraction of published articles
• Notification to relevant institutions if necessary
• Corrections will be issued when significant errors are identified that affect interpretation but not overall findings.
• Retractions will be issued in cases of unreliable data, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical research practices.
• BJDRE is a fully open access journal. All published content is freely available without charge to readers or their institutions.
• Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of articles, or use them for any lawful purpose, without prior permission, provided proper attribution is given.
• BJDRE is published by the Bangladesh Academy of Dentistry International (BADI)® and distributes content under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).
• Authors retain copyright of their published work.
• Articles in BJDRE are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License CC BY-4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original author and source are properly credited.
• Authors must submit an Author Declaration Form during manuscript submission.
